sunshine0221's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sommes-nous l encore? Sommes-nous l encore? I TiVo'd The Others right before I cancelled my movie channels, and finally sat down and watched it this morning. It was boring. With a capital B. I kept waiting for something to happen. It was like Room with a View with really boring ghosts. Have I mentioned that it was BORING? Luckily I was able to fast forward through big sections of it. And yes the ending was a surprise, but not nearly surprising enough to make up for the previous hour and a half of deadly boringness. In case you have not already figured it out, I am not cultural. Clearly I was in the bathroom when appreciation for British-movies-where-people-talk-a-lot-while-looking-pained was being handed out. Give me Arnold Schwartzenegger blowing up bad guys, or Bruce Willis yipee kay yaying, or even Sandra Bullock klutzing her way through a romantic comedy. I wonder what attracts us to what we like? I wonder what determined my rabid dislike for museums, movies made by anyone named Merchant or Ivory, and winter squash? Are we born with likes and dislikes, or does something happen that causes us to prefer Bruce Willis over Helena Bonham Carter? *** In other news, I was checking the referral log for my journal, and someone is translating my journal into French! Im International! Forget Are we there yet?, the title of my journal is now Sommes-nous l encore?. Six pack of Dog beer translates to Des six paquets de bire de chien, and the coffee and Godiva were for making chocolatey coffee heaven-in-a-glass translates to le caf et le Godiva taient pour faire le ciel-dans-un-verre de caf de chocolatey. Hmmm, being translated almost makes me sound cultural. 5:31 p.m. - January 28, 2003 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
