Lauren's House - Now 100% Testicle Free!

Lauren's House - Now 100% Testicle Free!

Teeny had his "operation" on Tuesday. I dropped him off in the morning, and picked him up around 4:00. He was all woozy and stumbled around the bathroom, and fell into his water dish. I made him a bed, and held the bathroom door closed with a 20 pound bag of cat litter. Teeny weighs maybe 6 pounds, and had just had his testicles cut off. Do you think he stayed in the bathroom resting for the prescribed 2 days? Oh no he didn't.

By the time I got back from work at around 7, he was throwing himself against the bathroom door. I let him out for a few minutes, and then put him back in. He broke open the door and came and jumped up onto my desk. After a few more escapes, I gave up, and Teeny is completely back to his old self.

RIP Teeny Testicles.

Yesterday, I once again had to take the Mom to the airport. I know people who can get away with packing at the last minute, my mother is not one of them, but she tries anyway. This results in a panic-stricken packing rush where important things get forgotten, and much crabbiness, from both the parental and daughtoral directions ensues.

The plan was to leave at 10 am, thus allowing plenty of time to get to the Cedar Rapids airport. At 10 am not only was the Mom not packed, she was not even dressed. Kelly had bravely volunteered to come along, so I had to clean out the car at least a little so she wouldn't have a stroke. So I was running back and forth between the car and the house, loading luggage, removing trash from car, etc.

Upon returning to the house on on of these trips, I discovered the Mom, standing in the kitchen, covered in blood, and holding a towel to her head. She has dropped a box of CD's during her packing-panic, and then proceeded to subsequently slip on one when she was rushing to get ready. Let me summarize: One Mom with head wound. One nice traveling outfit covered in blood. Blood also on floor. And I assume one very traumatized CD.

Once I had determined that the Mom seemed to be okay, other than the large bump on her head, and that the bleeding had stopped, it was time for operation Get Blood Off the Mom's Clothes. At some point, Kelly showed up and used her Mom Skilz to confirm that the Mom seemed to be okay. Except we were late, and now she had to redo her hair.

I breathed a sigh of relief once we were out the door, but it was short-lived as the Mom, what with the rushing and the head injury, and last minute doing of the hair, has neglected to bring her hair styling products. Kelly helpfully suggested that she was sure she could get some in Montana, but the Mom would just not be okay without her product. We made an emergency stop at Wal Mart in Iowa City, where a chemical ice pack for the Mom's head bump was purchased, as well as two types of hair spiking product, and then proceeded to the airport.

So alls well that ends well. Mom was successfully seen off. Sushi was consumed by both Kelly and me. And we stopped at the co-op where I got parmesan cheese and organic coffee, and Kelly got potatoes, bananas, and port.

And the next time the Mom goes on a trip, as God is my witness, she will be fully packed at least two days before her departure date.
