Cats, Dogs, Programmers, and Glassgasms

I have never understood how software developers could spend years developing software, and not ONCE talk with the people that have to, like, use the software. I must have been an un-userfriendly programmer in a past life, because once again I am getting software foisted on me that I had absolutely no input into, and for extra points, did not even know it was coming.

When I started my job, about a year ago, the systems pretty much sucked. I created a database, and invoicing system, and made things like price changes and commissions automatic. Then a few months ago, I implemented EDI, so no more having to manually enter orders.

Everything is going along great, and then last week, Big Mail Order Customer calls me and lets me know that I am cordially invited to a three and a half hour training session on their new web-based order processing, shipping, and invoicing system. The hell??? I just got everything working smoothly! And the EDI is co cool! And I made spiffy packing slips and everything!

So Tuesday morning I sat through a loooong conference call with an 84 slide Powerpoint presentation, and at the end of the call I asked when the new system was going live. And they said, “Today”. Gah!!

Wish me luck.

This picture completely cracks me up because the cat looks so embarrassed. And you can just tell he is saying, “Excuse me??!! A little privacy here??!!!”.

Also a doggie nursing baby tigers. Dogs are so cool:

Spike illustrating why one should never ‘nip and drive:

And you didn’t think I could do an entry without Teeny pictures did you? Teeny surfin’ the web (from the top of my monitor):

And photographic evidence that Teeny kills toilet paper:

Way back when, I got a bunch of cobalt blue drinking glasses at the factory outlet mall. They were good glasses, but I am a klutz, and keep breaking them, and am now down to one big glass, two mediums, and a bunch of wine goblets. I have been looking for some cool glasses to replace the broken blue ones. And I have not found anything worthy – until today when I found these:

And they also come in small:

I think I am in love!

And stray kitty has been named Wesley, is he gorgeous or what?
